Tip #4: Track It!
Today is #4 of my 13 tips for a healthy 2013.
There’s tremendous value in writing things down, even if your memory is iron-clad. If you record what you eat, it really makes you stop and think about what you are putting in your body each day. If you’re tracking a strength building routine at the gym, you’ll be delighted to note your progress over time. If you are preparing for a bike tour across Vermont, you will see how an increase in mileage enhances your endurance. This is just the sort of encouragement you need to fuel your optimism and keep at it.
Another important benefit of writing things down is to note how different aspects of your life interrelate. Specifically, it’s beneficial to note how factors like food, sleep and stress affect your energy level, mood, and/or performance. Observing patterns over time can help you determine which lifestyle habits need to evolve, and which one(s) to keep as is.
Without writing these things down, it can be difficult to evaluate what really helps you look and feel good. So write it down, and you’ll be one step closer to reaching your health and wellness goals – and feeling good, too.
