A Top Ten Feel Good List: Family

What makes you feel good?

To help guide and happy and healthy 2011, I am recommending that you make a top ten list of things that make you feel good - really good. By a simple awareness of those things that make you feel great, you will be more likely to make time for these activities, people and behaviors (and squash those things that make you feel really bad!). It’s a theory anyway…..

This week, I’m sharing a few of things that keep my life happy, healthy and in balance – in hopes of inspiring a few thoughts of your own.

Four items on my top ten list include: music, books, cooking, and exercise.

Today’s “item” is #1: family.

Luke and Walden

Family

Without family, everything else in life becomes far less meaningful. Family is comfort in time of need, laughter and joy in times of abundance and purpose to every day.

My son Luke, brings warmth, love and balance to my life like nothing else I’ve ever known. Below is a quote from my book, Finding Life’s Secret Sauce, which sums up my feelings quite nicely:

“I know I could never love anything or anyone more than I love my child. And I’d sacrifice anything in the world for him. There has never been another single thing in my life which has brought me more joy than he. The look on his precious face when he’s asleep is one I cherish. When he gets up in the morning and wants to sit in my lap, it’s the best five minutes of my day. When he leaps in my arms when I get home from work, all the troubles of the world melt away. His “I love you’s” mean more than life itself. And if I could capture his laughter in a jar, I would save it to eternity.”

As the new year approaches, I hope  never to lose sight of the gift of family. Because I truly think it’s the greatest gift of all.

Happy New Year to all! And may you each have a feel good year!
